48:13 has gone straight in at Number 1 to give Kasabian their fourth UK chart topper.

Kasabian have ended Sam Smith’s two-week stand at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with their latest full-length, 48:13.

The critically acclaimed album, which takes its name from its running time, has today become the Leicester band’s fourth UK chart topping album. William Hill have cut the odds of Lily Allen grabbing the Christmas number one spot after it emerged that her version of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know is to be used in the John Lewis advert. Initially offered at 16/1, it has more than halved in price to 7/1.

The 2013 X-Factor winner is 11/10 favourite for the festive top spot while Susan Boyle's duet with Elvis Presley is the 7/2 second favourite.

'John Lewis' Christmas adverts are becoming just as much a festive tradition as turkey and trimmings and there is a good chance that...

A tumultuous battle for the top of the U.K. album chart yesterday (Oct. 20) resulted in a top five comprised entirely of new entries and victory for British vocalist John Newman. He beat off competition from Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney and others to debut at No. 1 with his first album “Tribute” (Universal Island). OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” (Interscope/Universal) moved back to the singles summit after falling from the top to No. 3 last week.

The 23-year-old Newman, vocalist on Rudimental’s summer 2012 chart-topper “Feel The Love,” had a No. 1 single of his own in July with “Love Me Again,” and opened...
